Writer, reporter and author Celia Farber was reared in Sweden and New York City. Her main focus as a young journalist in the late 80’s was the emerging war in the biological sciences over germ theory, particularly the one that came to be known as “HIV.” Her works exposing pharmaceutical and biomedical malfeasance were collected in a book titled Serious Adverse Events: An Uncensored History of AIDS (MHP/Random House). Her 2006 exposé in Harper’s, “Out of Control: AIDS and the Corruption of Medical Science,” won the Semmelweis Society International Clean Hands Award for Investigative Journalism, triggering a virulent backlash against her on the parts of the industries that she had exposed. Prior to publishing her groundbreaking article, Farber had also written for Esquire, Rolling Stone, and other major magazines on a variety of subjects, including the post-trial life of O. J. Simpson. Her Esquire article on Simpson, “Whistling in the Dark,” broke sales records for the magazine and she was interviewed for the 2017 Academy Award-winning documentary “OJ: Made In America.”
Farber previously hosted a show on PRN called “Radio Free Science” with co-host and biochemist Dr. David Rasnick.
